Agricultural or site machinery, airport equipment and, more generally, all vehicles referred to as ‘off-road’ are perfect candidates for retrofitting. Because they do not travel on the road, these vehicles are not bound by the same rules as other vehicles. In their case, homologation gives way to self-certification by the manufacturer, a less restrictive process.

The effects of global warming are particularly evident in Annecy, where hydrologists measure a drop in the level of the lake every summer. The Compagnie des Bateaux du Lac d’Annecy, which has a front-row seat to these changes, decided to take action in March 2022 by signing an agreement with GCK Mobility to retrofit five cruise boats with electric engines. Philippe Gausset, the company’s chairman, emphasised that this would be a ‘responsible move for future generations’.
Housed in the hold, GCK Battery‘s lithium-ion batteries are completely invisible to cruise passengers. The conversion allows the batteries to last a day without intermediate recharging, for a total of 10 hours at a cruising speed of 20 km/h.
Riva, a legendary brand; sublime boats that appeared in the 1950s, symbols of Italian refinement, elegance and sportiness.
GCK Mobility has developed a retrofit kit dedicated to the 1966 Super Florida. The integration of the new electric engine offers excellent performance while retaining the original centre of gravity. This makes a Riva outing even more fun and responsible.

GCK Mobility was asked to retrofit a snow groomer, a vehicle weighing over 8 tonnes. This Kâssbohrer Pistenbully model retains all its functional features and can still be used without any weather restrictions. The snow groomer can travel on steep slopes and reach a maximum speed of 23 km/h, with an autonomy of 8 hours. It weighs the same both unladen and in use (8.9 t and 13.2 t respectively). It is equipped with a fuel cell – designed by GCK in collaboration with FEV – that is among the most powerful on the market.
Construction and quarry machinery are particularly well suited to hydrogen retrofits for their internal combustion engines. With this solution, you don’t change the entire engine, just a few parts (fuel system, spark plug). The overall cost of ownership (cumulative cost of the vehicle throughout its life cycle) is lower with this conversion than with its replacement by a hybrid electric-hydrogen system (fuel cell).
